Split’s historic center is built around an ancient, fortified palace complex commissioned by the Roman emperor Diocletian at the beginning of the 4th century A.D. Nearby Trogir is known for its mix of Renaissance, Baroque, and Romanesque architecture.

Kotor, Montenegro

Kotor is one of the Adriatic’s best-preserved medieval Old Towns, famed for its Venetian fortifications and dramatic fjord-like scenery. Visit the 12th-century Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, built in homage to the city’s patron and protector.

The Ionian island of Corfu blends Venetian elegance with classic Greek charm. Wander the cobbled streets of Corfu Town, visit the grand Achilleion Palace, or sample the island’s olive oil and wine.

From Katakolon, visit the archaeological site of Olympia, birthplace of the first Olympic Games, which were held every four years beginning in 776 B.C. Olympia is also home to the Temple of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Santorini is famous for its whitewashed buildings and beaches of white, red, and black sand. It is also home to the excavated ruins of Akrotiri, which was covered in volcanic ash in the 17th century B.C. Be sure to sample delicious local wines made from grapes that flourish in the volcanic soil.

Athens, the capital of Greece and one of the two great birthplaces of Western civilization, is home to such wonders as the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and the New Acropolis Museum, which exhibits more than 4,000 ancient works.

Mykonos, Greece
Day Nine | Monday, July 5 (Anchor/Tender)
Mykonos is one of Greece’s most adored destinations due to its whitewashed buildings, thatch-roofed windmills, beaches, and growing nightlife. Walk through the narrow streets of “Little Venice,” visit a 16th-century monastery, or cruise to the sacred island of Delos and meander through excavated ruins of temples, statues, and mosaics.
Gythion, Greece

Gythion served as the ancient port of Sparta, connecting the powerful city-state to trade and travel across the Mediterranean. Explore the waterfront, visit nearby ruins, or travel inland to Sparta to learn more about the region’s classical past.

Valletta is Malta’s fortified capital, known for its richly decorated St. John’s Co-Cathedral. Walk the city walls and gardens overlooking the Grand Harbor, explore nearby Mdina for its medieval landmarks, or take in panoramic sea views from the Dingli Cliffs.

Messina (Sicily), Italy
Day Thirteen | Friday, July 9 (Docked)
Messina is a gateway to eastern Sicily. Visit Taormina to see its ancient Greek theater, explore the lava fields and scenic crater views of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano, or sample local wines produced in the region’s volcanic soil.

Day Fourteen | Saturday, July 10 (Docked)
From Naples, take an excursion to colorful Sorrento, visit the island of Capri, or see the ruins of Pompeii, which was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
